Homeowners shouldn’t be scared of getting stuck in to a DIY project, with most tasks relatively straightforward and easy, one expert has stated.
With millions of people across the country currently watching their budgets in the wake of the global economic downturn, Andrew Bernard, the resident DIY expert on the home shopping channel JML, has explained that people should be confident enough to carry out simple home improvement jobs.
According to the expert, DIY is "really easy", with homeowners advised to plan out a project in their minds, ensure that they have all the appropriate safety equipment and measures in place, and then just go for it.
"If you have messed it up then you learn from that mistake and you go again," he added.
Furthermore, while some larger jobs may require outside DIY help, tasks such as painting and decorating or even some carpentry jobs can be carried out alone, thereby saving significant sums of money.
These comments come soon after Santander reported that its research has found that one in three Britons intend to carry out home improvement work over the next 12 months.
