Gardens are increasingly being focused on as a part of the home to renovate, one horticulturist claims.
Stating that homeowners are viewing their garden as "an extra room", Matt James points out that people are looking to make the most of the space they have.
Indeed, he suggests that as gardens are being seen as an opportunity "to do everything you could do in the house" from cooking to relaxing, more time and money is being invested into getting outdoor spaces looking good.
Getting to grips with outdoors DIY could be especially advisable for those in urban areas as Mr James claims that for those living in the centre of a town or city "the garden’s even more important than it ever was".
Meanwhile, a survey carried out at last month’s National Home Improvement Show in London revealed a third of respondents believe that garden landscaping will help to increase the overall value of their home.
It was also indicated more than nine in ten people are looking to carry out some form of DIY over the next year.
