Britons are increasingly looking to implement a personal touch into their homes, a property expert claims.
George Clarke, presenter of Build a New Life and The Home Show, points out that one of the major home improvement trends at present is for people to introduce open planned design into their property.
"They want clever open plan design, which is about a series of zones that work and the flexibility to close some of those zones off," he states, adding that the majority of people are no longer interested in having a formal dining room.
Instead, homeowners are looking for a more relaxed approach towards their kitchen and dining areas.
Mr Clarke adds that having a real fireplace in the home is becoming increasingly sought-after, a project that could interest DIY enthusiasts.
And tackling home improvements to make a property more comfortable is popular among many, as 56.6 per cent of people visiting last month’s National Home Improvement Show claimed they are looking to carry out DIY in order to make their property more attractive.
