Homeowners have been offered some top DIY tips on how to prevent heat from escaping their properties this winter.
Nigel Berman, founder of nigelsecostore.com, said simply products and home improvements can make a huge difference to heating bills.
His first piece of advice is to insulate and install double glazing, as 25 per cent of heat in a typical home is lost though the roof, while ten per cent is lost through windows.
"If you haven't got double glazing and can't afford it, use window insulation film which you stick over the windows," he recommended.
Mr Berman also suggested fitting door draught excluders, which slide underneath internal doors without the need for screws or drilling.
Other top tips included bleeding radiators to make sure they are working efficiently and investing in a chimney pillow to stop cold air coming down the chimney.
Mr Berman pointed out that not only will these measures help homeowners reduce their energy bills, but they will also enable them to reduce their carbon footprint.
