Coastal properties continues to be in high demand, it has been suggested.
Geoff O’Neill, owner of the South Hams branch of Coastal Property Search, stated that holiday homes located in seaside resorts are proving to be particularly popular as the ongoing economic downturn means people are not travelling abroad as much.
Consequently, he states that investing in properties in these areas could be a good idea as "they are always going to appeal".
Meanwhile, those looking towards DIY in order to boost the attractiveness of seaside homes could be interested in his comments that "everybody needs to be cautious about their investments but, over the very long term, properties perform well against other forms of investment".
His comments come after research by Nestoria.co.uk revealed property values in Thurso and South Hams have risen by 45 and 16 per cent over the past 12 months, in comparison to the overall 11.7 per cent annual decline fall in house prices as noted by the Land Registry.
