A desire to increase the value of their homes is the main reason Britons decide to make DIY changes to their properties, one expert has claimed.
Jace Tyrrell, spokesperson for the New West End Company, explained that the current surge in DIY improvements is because consumers want to "invest and hopefully make some money when the property prices come back".
Further to this, Mr Tyrrell revealed that bathroom improvements are especially popular at present.
In addition, the property expert explained that the May bank holiday was a big time for DIY home improvements.
"Traditionally the May bank holiday weekend is the biggest weekend for homes in the country and retailers are really pushing the home products. It’s a big weekend for retailers," he said.
Meanwhile, Easier Property recently urged Britons to be careful when undertaking home improvements.
Rather than going in gung-ho, DIY enthusiasts should think about exactly what they need to do and make sure they have everything "for the job in hand", Easier Property said.
