Britons with young families should seek to make the most of their kitchens, a DIY expert has said.
George Clarke, home improvement expert and presenter of Restoration Man, insisted that kitchens are the most important spaces in a family property.
Further to this, he suggested that parents should determine what purpose they wish their kitchen to serve before launching into any DIY work.
Mr Clarke advised parents to consider how much space they require to prepare meals, adding that homeowners with space should try to fit their washing machines in a separate room.
He added: "A nice extension on your kitchen-dining area at the back of the house can make a massive difference and will transform the way you and your family live."
Meanwhile, Ratedpeople.com recently claimed that DIY improvements are particularly beneficial for second-time homebuyers.
The website insisted that improvements are worthwhile because second-time buyers are likely to remain there for a number of years.
