Those Britons looking to get to grips with a kitchen DIY project should consider carefully how such a room will be lit, it has been suggested.
One means of doing this, design director for John Cullen Lighting Lucy Martin claims, can be fitting lights either above or below kitchen cabinets.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, she suggests that such electrical home improvements should focus on quality rather than quantity.
"I’ve worked on kitchens with 30 ceiling lights but where the owners cannot see properly to chop onions," Ms Martin claims.
DIY enthusiasts could also be interested in her advice that installing lights deep into a ceiling and surrounding it with black fixtures can help to reduce glare.
Britons looking to get to grips with improving their kitchen could find that doing so can significantly boost the overall value of their home, as research carried out by HSBC shows that adding a new kitchen increases property prices by an average of £4,147.
