Lighting trends tend to change more subtly and slowly than most home design fads, a DIY expert has claimed.
Writing for ShelterPop.com, Erin Loechner explained that while some design trends come and go with each season, lighting trends do not.
Though Ms Loechner claimed that "exposed light bulbs are everywhere" at present, she explained that the bare bulb look can be difficult to pull off.
As a result, she advised DIY Britons to "opt for a low wattage in an etched or frosted glass so as not to overwhelm your room with bright spots of light lights".
The home design expert also suggested that bare bulbs are best when used in moderation, saying that Britons should employ them as an accent and not as the sole source of light.
Meanwhile, it was claimed recently that DIY skills need to be "integrated back into the family life" and passed on to the next generation.
Francesca Gamble, press officer for the Ideal Home Show, said that many Britons have become "lazy" about DIY skills.
