DIY tips and advice could become increasingly important for British males after research by Screwfix showed that a large proportion of them are unable to carry out supposedly simple home improvement tasks.
According to the retailer, 51 per cent of respondents said that they cannot rewire a plug, with 13 per cent unable to change a lightbulb.
In addition, 20 per cent have hit a pipe while trying to drill and 32 per cent have damaged a wall when hanging up a picture.
A spokesperson for the company commented that the statistics might mean that UK men could do with more of a DIY education.
"The funny thing is that tasks such as putting up shelves and hanging pictures are so easy – if only men had the time to learn how to do them," he said.
Screwfix was established more than 30 years ago and supplies hardware products, trade tools and accessories.
