Expectant mums are more likely to embark on DIY projects to decorate their baby's nursery than dads-to-be.
According to new research by baby product review website BabyChild.org.uk, more than four in ten pregnant ladies have put together nursery furniture without the help of their partner.
By contrast, just one in ten men has built furniture in preparation for the arrival of their child.
Asked why they were so keen to embark on solo DIY projects, a quarter of the women questioned said they were bored while on maternity leave.
Three in ten said they wanted to do the job on their own as part of the 'nesting' process, which many women go through as they wait for the birth of their baby.
"Nesting is an important part of the pregnancy process and many mothers find great comfort in the preparation and decoration of their baby’s nursery," said Jill Tovey, co-founder of BabyChild.org.uk.
However, a third of pregnant ladies claimed to have got out their tools because their partner was too slow in getting the job done.
