DIY enthusiasts may want to take on their sheds as their next project after their increasing importance was highlighted.
A report in the Daily Mail looked at how people are now spending thousands on the structures in their gardens, often converting them into offices, studios or relaxing hideaways.
Among the sheds detailed in the piece was a wooden sphere that featured a Perspex roof and which had a carpet inside it.
Meanwhile, another had double-glazed windows and spotlights on the ceiling, making it ideal for the owner’s love of painting.
The news provider said: “Once the refuge of middle-aged men and their toolboxes, the garden shed has had a makeover.
“Forget the traditional flat-pack variety – we’re talking weird and wonderful bespoke creations that cost anything up to £30,000 and would put many peoples homes to shame.”
Of course, sheds can also be the subject of some basic DIY, such as making sure they have secure locks to keep lawnmowers and tools safe.
