DIY enthusiasts have been reminded of the need to keep things simple when doing home improvement work in a bid to attract property buyers.
Speaking to Channel 4 Homes, property expert Sarah Beeny points out that sticking to classic well-executed designs “will work wonders” in terms of making a home more attractive to prospective purchasers.
Furthermore, homeowners were advised to tackle any problems that a home has before putting it on the market.
“Nobody will pay top dollar for a house when the basics aren’t right,” Ms Beeny asserts, stating the importance of having plumbing and electrics in good working order.
Home improvement fans should also bear in mind the need for a property to be balanced, as concentrating too much on fitting additional bedrooms at the expense of an undersized kitchen and a shortage of bathroom space means “you won’t see the return you’re hoping for”.
Meanwhile, a recent Sunday Times article reported that adding space saving features to a kitchen is proving to be a particularly popular form of home improvement.
