The past year has been one full of serious DIY projects, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor revealed to the Daily Mail this week.
According to the Murder on the Dancefloor star, she and her husband had to carry out some large-scale renovation schemes after purchasing a run-down five-bedroom house in West London.
Ms Ellis-Bextor explained that the property had no floorboards or central heating when they moved in, which meant a lot of work to fix this.
In addition, the couple replaced the old outhouse with a modern extension.
As for decorating, she divulged her personal tastes to the publication, giving readers an idea of what the interior looks like.
"I love fifties fashion and bright colours – the TV show Mad Men was a big influence," she said.
"There is a dark navy room, powder blues and greens and lots of rich fifties shades."
Ms Ellis-Bextor sang on DJ Spiller’s Groovejet’s worldwide hit If This Ain’t Love? in 2000 and followed up the success with the release of her debut album Read My Lips the year after.
