Homeowners keen to undertake DIY projects to refurbish their properties have been advised how best to do so.
The Daily Mirror has compiled a list of ten tricks to ensure that DIY tasks don't end in disaster.
From simple jobs such as hanging pictures to more complicated assignments like painting a bathroom, the newspaper's advice is ideal for anyone planning to undertake DIY home improvements.
According to the publication, refurbishment projects such as tiling the wall or changing the flooring gives a property a whole new look.
"Sand floors with an industrial machine. Start with a rough sand paper, then move on to medium, then fine for the best, smooth finish," it advised.
"[When retiling] take a tip from professional tilers and retile straight on to old tiles. The key to a good finish is to use a professional-style tile cutter to get perfect fill-ins."
Other suggestions put forward by the newspaper include adding floating shelves to rooms and renovating existing furniture.
