A Leicestershire man has spoken of how he has gone to the final frontier with regards to DIY.
Tony Alleyne reveals how he tackled home improvements to transform his one-bed flat in Hinckley into a life-size replica of the Star Trek Voyager starship from the long-running science fiction television and film franchise.
Such work has seen him install a copy of the ship’s command console which controls the flat’s lighting, while the doorbell has been programmed to play an audio clip of actor Patrick Stewart in his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
Overall, he has spent £4,000 on transforming his home with the DIY project coming after he broke up with wife Georgina.
“Building this has been like a dream. I had a vision and I’m really amazed at what I managed to achieve with just hard work,” Mr Alleyne points out.
Earlier this month, Foxtons’ Ian Brownridge claimed that – if done properly – unusual home improvements can help increase a property’s saleability.
