Women are taking more of an active role in doing DIY projects, it has been claimed.
According to Francesca Gamble, a DIY and home improvement expert, women’s desire to carry out DIY projects reflects the trend of them becoming more dominant in all areas of society.
Ms Gamble said: "Obviously in the workplace more women are now becoming important figureheads, and that transfers through to the home as well.
"Women are taking more responsibility and learning new skills themselves."
Women are increasingly becoming keen to undertake DIY projects, according to the expert, who added that they are capable of doing "just as good a job [as men]".
This follows research recently conducted by Tesco that claimed a rising number of women are conducting DIY work.
Tesco said that 60 per cent of women were now heading to the shops to buy DIY items, which is a stark rise from the one in five females doing this a decade ago.
