Cleaning grout
To make a tile floor or wall look cleaned properly, it is essential you clean the grout affectively. This isn’t always easy as dirt can stick to the grout and is often tough to remove.
- For white grout, cover with a little bit of diluted liquid bleach and leave to stand for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
- For coloured grout you may use baking soda paste and scrub using a toothbrush in circular motions.
- Failing this, purchase a commercial grout cleaner and follow their instructions for use. Use a toothbrush and scrub until the grout is clean. Once finished, use a damp cloth to wipe clean.
- If your grout is black and your tiles don’t look much cleaner after following the suggested methods you may require a professional grout cleaning service or you may want to re-grout the tiles.

It is common for grout to get mould or dirt, especially in damp areas like a bathroom. Because grouts are porous they absorb dirt and can be difficult to get clean. Some people choose to regrout their tiles, however it is possible to get the tiles clean without regrouting.
