Surrey residents keen on loft insulation

Surrey residents keen on loft insulationResidents in Bookham have been keen to ensure they benefit the environment and their wallets when carrying out DIY tasks on their properties, research has revealed.

The Surrey Mirror has reported the preliminary findings of the Bookham Vision survey, which benefited from 6,244 responses, the equivalent of 68 per cent of the population of the village.

Among the findings of the study were that seven in ten residents have chosen to insulate their lofts, while the same number have taken advantage of the benefits of energy saving light bulbs.

Trevor Sokell presented the survey at the Bookham Residents' Association annual general meeting and highlighted how the survey would reflect the village's lifestyles and attitudes.

According to the publication, he said: "So far we are in the process of trying to understand and reflect on the community's input and will eventually be producing some recommendations based on Bookham Vision."

Further findings of the survey were that 80 per cent of respondents were keen recyclers and 89 per cent are against the development of a new supermarket.

The Guardian revealed earlier this year that homeowners could save approximately £150 each year simply through insulating their lofts.
