B&Q’s hourly van hire service just £14 per hour

Updated:11th June 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

B&Q Logo - lets-do-diy.comHave you ever found yourself trying to squeeze that newly purchased set of garden furniture or barbeque into the back of your car? Now, B&Q has made DIY and home improvement easier from the moment you leave store, with the launch of its new hourly van hire service for just £14 per hour. The national roll out of the service, following a successful 23 week pilot across seven stores, launches on the 12th April, and is in conjunction with Connect by Hertz.

The hourly van hire service is really convenient and easy to use, comprising of just three simple steps – Book It, Use It and Return It. You can even hire a van straight away if need be.

B&Q customers just need to pick up a leaflet from store, take it to the check out and purchase a membership pack which includes an hour’s rental for £14. By registering with Connect by Hertz either by calling 0207 365 4199 from today, or online at www.diy.com/connectbyhertz from April 14th, you can make a booking in advance or book your van straight away. You’ll then have your own Connect by Hertz membership card, which you can use whenever you need a van as well as providing you with access to on-street vehicles across London as part of the wider Connect by Hertz service.

Once you’ve booked, pick up your van from a B&Q designated parking bay, unlock the vehicle by swiping your Connect by Hertz card over the card reader in the windscreen, and follow the simple instructions on the display screen to get you on the move. The van is equipped with a hands-free phone system, so if you need help at any time, you can request a call back and a member of the Hertz Connect team will phone you back.

Your first 20 miles are completely free, then just 30p per mile thereafter and if you need to fill up, just use the fuel card located in the van at any petrol station. You’ll only be charged you for the mileage that you drive, regardless of the amount of fuel you put in.

Returning the van could not be easier – just park it back in the bay you took it from, leaving the keys inside, and terminate your booking using the display module, and swipe your card to lock the doors – there is no need to go back into the B&Q store. You can also even leave your own car at the B&Q car park for the duration of your hire.

Katherine Paterson, B&Q’s Marketing Director says; “B&Q is on a mission to make DIY easier, and with the launch our new van hire service we’re providing customers with an affordable and convenient means of getting their purchases home from store, and making their DIY experience hassle free from the start.”

Mark P. Frissora, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Hertz, comments: “Our agreement with B&Q has made the shopping experience even easier for customers. This agreement marks a new era in home delivery, and is just one example of how short term rentals are revolutionizing the way we move – demonstrating the possibilities Connect by Hertz can have for consumers, businesses and partners.”
