DIY tips for combatting the cold

DIY tips for combatting the coldDIY enthusiasts have been given a helping hand by GMTV on how to keep their homes warm during the winter months.

With temperatures currently below freezing in many parts of the country, the Met Office recently revealed that the cold snap is set to continue, with icy winds and severe frost on its way in the next few days.

GMTV explained that as a consequence it is essential homeowners draught-proof their homes ensure that as much heat is kept in the property as possible.

This can be achieved by using the sealant, foam, rubber strip or other material of choice and putting it under external doors, around the edges of window frames and the letter box.

In addition, Britons might want to stitch thermal lining material to their curtains to keep the house warm, it suggested.

Jeff Howell recently stated that such draught-proofing, as well as installing secondary window glazing and insulation, could also make people's homes more energy efficient.
