More people ‘giving DIY a go’

Updated:29th June 2022No Comments1 Min Read

Giving DIY a Go - lets-do-diy.comEaster is a popular time to stay in and tackle DIY projects.

So claims M&S Money, which reveals that more than a quarter (28 per cent) of Britons will put their hand towards home improvements this weekend, with the trend for DIY reported to be driven by the uncertain economic outlook as people attempt to save money.

“The current financial climate means that even more people will be having a go at DIY, either as an alternative to moving home or instead of employing a professional,” Judith Roberts, M&S insurance manager, states.

Indeed, the home insurance provider reveals 64 per cent of Brits are more likely to try and cut costs by trying DIY rather than getting in a professional to do the job.

However, those looking for DIY advice may be interested to hear the firm’s calls for people to wear the proper protective clothing – such as gloves and goggles – before starting work, while extra care should be taken when using power tools.

Meanwhile, recent AXA research showed 51 per cent of DIY enthusiasts will be looking to do some painting and decorating over the Easter break.
