Updated:16th June 2022No Comments1 Min Read

Prevent Opportunistic Thieves - lets-do-diy.comAs the summer continues, homeowners are being reminded of the need to keep their property secure.

Wiltshire Police reveals that recent weeks have seen an increase in the number of properties in the region falling victim to opportunistic burglars making their way into homes through unlocked doors and windows.

“Opportunists can strike anywhere and it is important that people heed advice to prevent themselves becoming a victim,” detective superintendent Nigel Porter tells the Salisbury Journal.

Consequently, people were urged to make sure valuables are kept away from doors and windows, while exterior doors should be kept locked when a property is vacant, those keen on carrying out DIY in order to improve property security could be interested to hear.

Meanwhile, people considering making improvements to their doors could be interested to hear that Karen McLauchlan, in Middlesbrough newspaper the Evening Gazette, recently claimed that putting a fresh coat of paint on a front door is an ideal DIY task to tackle over the summer months.
