Property prices have risen for the first time this year, new Land Registry figures show.
Over the course of June, a 0.1 per cent increase in house values was recorded, the first month-on-month rise to have been seen since January 2008.
Particularly dramatic increases were noted in London and the West Midlands as five regions throughout posted growth.
Now, the typical property in England and Wales has a value of ยฃ153,046.
But with house values down 14 per cent on a year-on-year basis, the Land Registry points out that this rise “does not signal a return to solid growth, but rather flattening prices”.
However, those Britons looking to take steps to boost the value of their home may want to consider getting to grips with DIY projects – such as fitting new kitchen units or revamping the garden – in order to make it more attractive to would-be buyers.
One home improvement people may particularly want to carry out energy-saving measures which can boost property prices by an average of ยฃ4,327.
