Landlords hoping to attract tenants by making their properties as green as possible have been offered some top DIY home improvement tips.
The National Landlords Association (NLA) pointed out that with gas and electricity prices rising, tenants are increasingly choosing properties that are cheaper to heat.
"Landlords can help make their properties more desirable and reduce voids by taking a few simple steps to make them more energy efficient," said chairman David Salusbury.
Laying loft insulation is one of the most effective ways of minimising heat loss, while cavity wall and floor insulations can also have major appeal for tenants.
The NLA also suggested filling in gaps between floorboards and skirting boards and draught proofing doors and windows, as well as fitting lagging to hot water pipes and tanks.
Mr Salusbury pointed out that as well as making a property immediately more desirable to tenants, green home improvements will also benefit landlords in the long-run, as they will help to lift the Energy Performance Certificate rating.
