A basement extension can prove to be an effective way for people to increase the amount of space they have in their home, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Indeed, Antony and Rachel Faretra reveal to the publication that converting their cellar “has really worked” in terms of giving their family more room.
Such a home improvement project has allowed the couple’s Manchester home to incorporate a utility room, office and playroom for their twin sons Max and Milo.
However, those considering such a home improvement project were urged by Mr Faretras to ensure they take the time to get the damp proofing right.
“If it isn’t done properly you’ve wasted your money – the damp will be back no matter how much you spend,” he claims.
However, this is not the first home improvement project the family have tackled as they had already converted the loft of their semi-detached home into an additional two bedrooms and bathroom.
Britons wishing to increase the amount of space they have may also want to consider adding a conservatory as Kate Watson-Smyth wrote in the Independent that doing so can significantly boost the overall value of a home.
