Large showers are a popular home improvement trend, it has been suggested.
Interior designer on BBC One show DIY SOS Julia Kendell also points out sizeable bath suites are particularly sought-after, as homeowners look to spend more time relaxing in their bathroom, particularly in the current financial climate.
"Because we’ve been through tough times, people are looking to be able to see their homes – and bathrooms in particular – as a bit of a haven," she points out.
However, the DIY expert suggests that the trend for wet rooms has "died a bit of a death", as unless a property’s first floor is made of concrete fitting such a bathroom can often resulted in ceiling leaks.
Instead, she claims that where baths may have once been ripped out now they are now being fitted back into a bathroom.
Carrying out improvements to this part of the home appears to be a popular option as research by Halifax in May revealed just under a fifth (18 per cent) of home improvers plan on adding a new bathroom.
