Bold wallpaper designs are beginning to inspire DIY enthusiasts, it has been claimed.
Writing for the Independent, Kate Watson-Smyth insisted that daring patterns and shades are quickly becoming popular among homeowners.
"Bold colours are bringing a new wave of home decorators back to an interiors classic," she said.
"The choice of papers out there is now overwhelmingly huge."
This view is echoed by Melanie Adams, from Wallpaper Direct, who explained that there is a strong trend for bright colours to sit alongside the "more familiar beige".
She added that with the property market quiet, more homeowners are decorating their houses not with an eye to resale, but "with a view to how they will enjoy living in them".
Decorating is much more about self-expression now, she said.
Meanwhile, John Drengenberg, consumer safety director for Underwriter Laboratories, recently urged DIY enthusiasts to make safety their number one priority when making home improvements, WLS Chicago News reports.
