In order to avoid a potential disaster, any DIY project needs to be carefully planned, it has been claimed.
According to Mark Huffman, writing for Consumer Affairs, the success of a DIY project is determined by "planning and making the right decisions".
"Planning, in fact, is the cornerstone of any home improvement project," Mr Huffman noted.
"Make up your mind about what you want and how much you can afford to spend."
Added to this, he said it is critical that homeowners create a realistic budget by visiting their local DIY store to ascertain the cost of materials.
Meanwhile, Tesco claimed recently that there has been a rise in the number of women who are taking on DIY tasks.
Indeed, the retailer said that 60 per cent of women were now heading to the shops to buy DIY items, which is a stark rise from the one in five females doing this ten years ago.
