Homeowners in Britain have been given advice by the Co-operative Insurance on a number of small DIY projects they should carry out to ensure that their property is suitably weather-proof.
The Met Office has forecast more heavy snow across several areas of England and Wales this week, with temperatures generally being low nationwide.
And according to the insurance provider, it is important to regularly check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the home to ensure they are working correctly.
Homeowners should also insulate their pipes to avoid them freezing or bursting, the company stated.
It is also necessary to make sure the driveway is clear and safe, especially after snowfall.
James Hillon, functional leader of the Co-operative Insurance, commented that these precautionary steps could be beneficial.
"Of course, accidents will always happen, so we’re simply encouraging people to take the time to think about what might go wrong and what they could do to prevent it," he said.
