As one of the world’s leading suppliers of effective tool solutions for professional trades, C.K tools offers a comprehensive range of ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) and Precision tools. In meeting the needs of end users this already successful range has now been re-launched for 2009 with a new look to both the tools and the packaging.
The C.K tools ESD and Precision range, comprising pliers, cutters, tweezers, screwdrivers, wire strippers, trimmers and mirrors, is designed for professionals who need hand tools for ultra fine work, where use of intricate components or tight access are issues, such as in the electronics and fine mechanics industries.
Each tool in the range has been designed and created with the very nature of precision work in mind. Raw materials are carefully selected to match the demands of each product, components such as handles are created with comfort in mind and processes such as mirror polishing the surfaces of the pliers and cutters to prevent any chrome plate flaking demonstrate an understanding of the intricate and sensitive nature of the work these industries undertake.
In addition to the need for precise instruments, these industries also have a specific requirement for tools able to combat the effects of ElectroStatic Discharge and the range offers tools in both ESD and non-ESD versions.
Although present throughout our every day existence, static electricity generally poses no more of a threat than an unexpected zap from a shopping trolley or a door-knob. However, it can build up rapidly to produce surprisingly high voltages, which, in certain circumstances can lead to sparking. While this may last for a mere microsecond or less, the peak discharge current can be several Amps and the peak power in the kilowatt range, more than enough to do serious damage to electrical or electronic components.
In an electronic manufacture and assembly environment, static shocks can cause unseen damage leading to the failure of components and equipment representing significant lost production, additional man hours and, of course the resulting hit to the bottom line. At best, the component or equipment could fail at manufacture or assembly stage but in at worst the completed equipment could reach the end user leading to customer dissatisfaction and possible damage to the brand.
In order to combat this, there is an international standard (IEC 61340-5-1) for protection of electronic devices from electrostatic phenomena and this prohibits the use of non-electro static dissipative products in electrostatic protected areas (EPAs). C.K tools’ ESD hand tools have handles constructed from a special polypropylene material, allowing the flow of electricity but at a very controlled rate that prevent sparks developing. This material has been tested and certified to guarantee effectiveness and compliance.
The ESD and Precision Tools range is part of C.K tools’ extensive product portfolio offering professional tool solutions to trade end users. Each range is carefully researched, designed, created and trialled to ensure that every tool offers the end user optimum productivity, comfort, efficiency and longevity.
