DIY ‘rising in popularity’

Updated:5th September 2019No Comments1 Min Read

DIY 'rising in popularity'The popularity of DIY has increased significantly over recent weeks, one home improvement expert claims.

Pointing out that the financial downturn has caused more people to stay at home over the summer months, National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) director Andrew Leech claims that "they are capitalising on doing some DIY work around the house".

And with more people tackling home improvements themselves instead of hiring professional tradesmen in an effort to save money, such a DIY trend comes as Mr Leech states homeowners "are appreciating the fact that they need to keep their homes more highly-maintained than they have done in the past".

However, the NHIC director points out that people should be aware of their limits and take care to not overstretch themselves.

Indeed, homeowners may be interested in his DIY advice that they should not attempt gas and electrical work.

Meanwhile, DIY Week assistant editor Fiona Hodge recently advised people to make sure they know what they are doing before starting a DIY project.
