Double glazing windows should be installed in York Crown Court to reduce noise and improve efficiency, a local councillor has recommended.
Cllr Christian Vassie has written to the energy secretary for his help in the matter, the York Press reported.
It comes after HM Court Service said that the ice rink which is added each year to the Eye of York causes too much disturbance to the court.
As a result, the city stands to lose the annual attraction.
Double glazing can help the court keep noise from the skaters out and also boost the building's energy efficiency, Cllr Vassie argued.
"There is secondary double glazing fitted in St Paul’s Cathedral. If they can do it then so can we," he told the local newspaper.
"It is time we worked with the court to remove the noise issue, improve the energy efficiency of the building and, at the same time, protect public access to our glorious Eye of York."
