Fans of DIY go in search of new ideas

Updated:29th June 2022No Comments1 Min Read

Grand Designs - lets-do-diy.comEnthusiasts of DIY turned up in force to this year’s Grand Designs Live event in London to seek inspiration for new projects in and around the home.

And despite the recession taking hold, more and more people are continuing to show an interest in DIY, it would seem.

Some 28 per cent more visitors attended the show over the first weekend, presenter of the Grand Designs TV series Kevin McCloud said.

But there is still time for those interested in obtaining new ideas for DIY projects in their own home to attend the event, which runs until May 4th at ExCeL in London.

“This year, surprisingly, given the economic downturn, has been an extraordinary success for us,” said Mr McCloud.

The event features a number of ideas for eco-improvements to homes – an area Mr McCloud believes is important to address. The only way the country will meet carbon reduction targets is to retrofit older properties, he believes.
