DIY enthusiasts are looking to take on more home improvement projects from scratch, according to Will Parsons.
The DIY Week editor commented that many people have been inspired by recent television programmes that encourage people to get creative when it comes to their homes and lifestyles.
He said: "It is about not just growing it yourself, cooking it yourself, eating it yourself; it is doing everything and making everything from scratch."
Mr Parsons made his remarks at the Totally DIY Show in Birmingham this week, which was held between February 7th and 9th.
However, research published by Rated People this week (February 9th) indicated that DIY expenditure may suffer in the coming year as more people opt to rent – rather than own – property in the wake of the recession.
Andrew Skipwith, the firm’s founder and chief executive officer, commented that those living in rented properties have "limited" opportunity to engage in DIY projects.
