Homeowners who are considering redecorating or renovating in the future could find that a few licks of paint could do the trick and save money at the same time, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The American publication recently suggested that painting could be a perfect way to stave off the effects of the credit crunch while giving the look of a home a lift.
It stated that a couple of coats will brighten up a property’s dull walls and beginners can rest assured that no prior experience or skills are particularly essential.
Additionally, it explained that renovators could save around 80 per cent by carrying out their own painting project themselves, rather than calling in the professionals.
"To get the most professional-looking results, plan to spend more time preparing the surfaces than actually applying the paint," the Sun-Sentinel added.
According to the Paint Quality Institute, it is vital that DIYers properly prepare their surfaces before painting, such as removing fungus, cleaning and ensuring they are smooth.
