Design:
The Dewalt 18 volt drill/driver is a compact cordless tool designed for both drilling and screwdriving.
It is not light compared to other cordless drills on the market, but the weight is really well balanced between body and battery.
Features:
The Dewalt 18 volt cordless drill/driver has two speed settings, variable speed and reverse switch.
The drill/driver also has a 10 mm keyless chuck making it easy to change a bit with one hand.
Operation:
It is very powerful for a cordless drill – something to look for with cordless drills, as many lack power.
Changing bits is quick, easy and can be done with one hand. The variable torque and sensitive trigger allow for perfect control of drilling speed.
The Dewalt DEWDC729KA 18v drill/driver was able to insert and remove screws with ease and had no problem with drilling most materials – It was able to drill everything except for masonry. This is because it does not have a hammer action for drilling into brick or concrete, although this is not an issue because I would recommend a more powerful corded tool for drilling these types of materials.
The battery charges within 1 hour and lasts a reasonable amount of time.
Accessories:
The Dewalt cordless 18 volt drill/driver includes a heavy-duty carrying case, excellent for the serious DIY’er.
Also included are two NiCd batteries and a charger that will give the battery full power within 1 hour.Manual / Guide:
The manual told me everything I needed to know to operate the drill with confidence.
Overall:
The drill is a little heavy compared to others, but the extra weight makes it feel as though you are holding something made of metal, not plastic, giving it a real quality feel.
If you are a serious DIY’er who wants a professional tool, then this is a bargain and I fully recommend it.
