Now could be an ideal time for people to sell a property, a housing expert suggests.
Claiming that the recent rise in house values has been driven by a shortage of housing stock, Jane Marr, company director for the Little House Company, points out there remains significant interest in buying a home.
Indeed, she claims that Manchester has seen the most activity from buyers and sellers over the past 12 months.
"This could be a great time to sell; with inventory levels dropping, a seller’s home stands to receive a lot more attention," Ms Marr states.
However, those looking to make their property more attractive to would-be buyers may want to consider carrying out DIY in order to enhance its features.
Comments from the company director come after research carried out by Rightmove revealed that available housing stock has fallen to its lowest level for the 18 months, with 29 per cent more properties coming off the market than going on it.
The firm also indicated that the average home rose 0.6 per cent in price this month to stand at £223,996.
