The Great British Public have had their say and today we can reveal who has made it on to the shortlist of one of the UK’s most hotly contested competitions: National Shed of the Year 2011, sponsored by Cuprinol. Over 11,000 people visited www.readersheds.co.uk to cast their votes on which sheds should be in with a chance of winning the coveted National Shed of the Year title as well as £1,000 in cash and a range of products from Cuprinol.
The 350 entries were whittled down to just nine finalists, including Pop’s Diner, the George and the Dragon pub shed, the eco-friendly Ark shed, and the Bygones Museum. The judging panel, including ‘Head Sheddie’ and competition creator National Shed of the Year founder Uncle Wilco as well as celebrity shed-lover Sarah Beeny, now have the difficult task of picking out the winning shed. The proud winner will be announced during National Shed Week, which is celebrated throughout the country from the 4th July.
Uncle Wilco, who first set up the competition back in 2007, said “Each year I am astonished by the efforts sheddies go to in order to be in with a chance of winning. In the past we’ve had a Greek temple, a pirate themed shed and scores of pubs, and 2011 has not disappointed. There seems to be no end to the public’s imagination, and with the fantastic range of products available from our sponsors Cuprinol it’s easier than ever to pimp up your shed. Why not give it a go, and maybe next year it could be you?”
