New figures have revealed that outdoor DIY sales climbed last month, as an increasing number of consumers acquired leisure and home improvement products in the warm weather.
According to the British Retail Consortium, retail transaction values grew across the UK with a 1.2 per cent year-on-year rise seen in June, despite the 1.4 per cent increase seen at the same time last year.
The body explained that the sun helped sales, even though it was cooler in June this year than 12 months previous.
In an article for the Daily Telegraph, DIY expert Jeff Howell recently issued some advice to homeowners seeking to keep cool this summer.
Mr Howell identified ventilation as the key to remaining comfortable in stifling temperatures.
To this aim, he advised DIY enthusiasts to open roof windows, loft hatches and windows downstairs.
