Woodwork helps DIY enthusiasts create farmhouse kitchens

Updated:5th September 2019No Comments1 Min Read

Woodwork helps DIY enthusiasts create farmhouse kitchensDIY enthusiasts hoping to create the farmhouse look in their kitchen should use woodwork to create the desired effect.

In an article for Helium, interiors expert Linda Cann Pearson said wooden cabinets and rustic furniture provide the basics.

She recommended investing in an old-fashioned pine table to act as the centrepiece in the room and surrounding it with mis-matched chairs.

Wood plank flooring and ceiling beams also provide a farmhouse feel.

"You can find originals online and also at demolition companies that specialise in salvaged furnishings from old homes, barns and other buildings," she explained.

Ms Cann Pearson suggested storing and displaying decorative items such as plates in an old wooden cupboard.

To complement the furniture, she said decorative wallpapers can work well.

"Themed papers depicting farm animals, roosters, kitchen and cooking utensils, even cute checks and floral patterns work great for the farmhouse look," she stated.

Other items homeowners may wish to add to their rustic kitchen include a hanging rail for pots and pans, crocks and jugs to store wooden spoons and other utensils and vintage kitchen linens.
