Eco DIY is becoming an increasing area of focus for homeowners, one property expert claims.
Stating that "people are more concerned about running costs and the environment", Michael Holmes, co-presenter of Channel Five’s I Own Britain’s Best Home, asserts energy-efficiency is being considered more when carrying out home improvements.
As such, he claims that "lots of insulation" is currently being fitted into residential properties.
Mr Holmes also points out the use of heat pumps – available in either air or ground-sourced forms – are rising in popularity, with such devices deemed to be more "energy efficient than using a boiler".
In an effort to improve a property’s energy efficiency ECOutlet recently advised homeowners to seal up gaps in and around letterboxes, chimneys and door and window frames, as the typical home loses a fifth of its heat due to poor ventilation and draughts.
