An expert has stated that providing the right kind of information is crucial to changing DIY Britons’ attitude toward green energy.
Dick Strawbridge, presenter of It’s Not Easy Being Green, insisted that once homeowners come to understand and appreciate the value of renewable energy, they are more likely to incorporate green features in their abodes.
“Saving energy is all about learning and having somebody guiding you,” he added. “We are not getting leadership from energy companies.”
This follows claims made recently by Nick Medic, of RenewableUK, that Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) could stimulate a “revolution” in green DIY improvements.
He said that the FiTs scheme, which is designed to support the adoption of microgeneration technologies, has made it simpler for residential property owners to benefit from using wind and solar technology systems.
Through the initiative, Britons are guaranteed a minimum monthly amount for the power generated using renewable sources.
