Refreshing a door’s appearance could be the ideal DIY project during the summer months, it has been claimed.
Suggesting that this form of home improvement could help to boost the first impression visitors have of a property, Karen McLauchlan points out that placing a fresh lick of paint on a door is “an excellent job” to do over the course of a warm weekend.
Writing for Middlesbrough’s Evening Gazette newspaper, those on the search for DIY advice may be interest to hear her claims that people should remove the plates, lock mechanism and handles before starting painting.
Doing so, she states, would make the project “much easier”.
Ms McLauchlan also asserts that ahead of placing a new coat, any flaking paint should be removed from the surface of a door, which should also be rubbed down with sandpaper.
For those interested in swapping their doors over the coming weeks, opting for those made out of PVCu could be a wise idea.
Speaking last month, Homebuilding & Renovating magazine assistant editor Melanie Griffiths stated that such doors are cheap and easy to maintain.
