An education specialist has revealed how her passion for home improvements has seen her transform a run-down townhouse into a modern property.
Speaking to Scottish newspaper the Press & Journal, Dr Mairi MacLeod reveals that upon buying the house in Stornoway ten years ago, various improvements have seen it be created into a loving home, one which reflects her travels around the world.
One of these, she reveals, was the installation of four sets of French doors where windows had once been.
“The house was pretty run-down when I bought it, so I have spent quite a bit of time carrying out improvements,” Dr MacLeod points out.
Other home improvements to the property have seen underfloor heating be installed.
However, this is not the only home improvement project she has tackled as she reveals that she has “bought and done up a few older properties in my time”.
Meanwhile, Claire Barrett, editor at Grand Designs Magazine, recently stated that an increasing number of people are looking to invest in making improvements to their home as the economic crisis rumbles on.
