Although the only thing his Royle Family character picks up is the TV remote, actor Ricky Tomlinson has revealed that in real-life he is no slouch when it comes to DIY.
Previously a plasterer before becoming a star in the likes of Brookside and Mike Bassett: England Manager, Tomlinson has spoken to the Daily Mail of how he is bringing in a number of television stars to assist him with his latest DIY project.
Among those helping with the fitting out of a flat-pack timber chalet house he has built in Cheshire are DIY television presenter and Big Brother winner Craig Phillips.
Meanwhile, Little and Large star Syd Little and comic Stan Boardman will use their background in home maintenance to lend a hand to the Liverpudlian actor.
However, this is not the first time Tomlinson has got to grips with home improvements as he reveals that upon buying his first home in Liverpool he converted a bedroom into a bathroom and skimmed the walls.
Meanwhile, Denise van Outen recently told the Daily Mirror how she has been busy doing DIY at her Kent home.
