With the summer holidays in swing, building a treehouse could be an ideal DIY project to tackle over the coming weeks, it has been suggested.
Indeed, an article in the Daily Mail reveals that an increasing number of children are asking their parents to construct such a garden building.
However, ahead of picking up tools and hammering planks of wood together, DIY enthusiasts were advised to ensure they have approval from their local council to construct such a building.
“Planning permission takes only eight weeks and the response is usually favourable, so it’s always worth applying,” Simon Payne of Sussex-based luxury treehouse builder Blue Forest, tells the publication.
Those on the search for DIY advice may be interested to hear Mr Payne’s comments that “a basic treehouse is not hard to make” although careful research into the kind of tree such a building is planned for is required.
Meanwhile, a recent Independent article pointed out that building a treehouse will take around 60 hours to complete from start to finish.
