Continuing its tradition for spearheading innovation, Bosch Lawn & Garden is launching their first chainsaw to be powered by Lithium Ion – combining the flexibility of a battery-operated device with the staying-power of petrol.
The cordless AKE 30 LI weighs only 5.1kg and allows for more freedom and power. It is capable of cutting 100 lengths of 10 x 10 cm pine wood in just one charge. Powered by a 36V Lithium-Ion battery, which fully recharges in just 90 minutes (80% in 65 minutes), the chainsaw eliminates the risks associated with cords and removes the costly and awkward need for petrol.
Lithium-Ion batteries are one of the latest advances in consumer products – they benefit from fast charge times and are friendly to the environment with low emissions. Lithium-Ion batteries are also 50% lighter than conventional batteries and have no discharge or memory effect thereby reducing recharge time and acting as a transferrable power source.
Ideal for tricky jobs away from an accessible power source, the new Bosch garden tool has a simple chain tightening device that eliminates the need for tools before, during and after use. The AKE 30 LI has a chain speed of 8 m/sec – while its kickback safety mechanism activates in 0.1 seconds, exceeding safety standards by 30%.
Like other models in the chainsaw range, the AKE 30 LI also features an automatic oiling and oil level indicator to enable clean lubrication and to avoid running the chainsaw dry.
The Bosch AKE 30 LI will retail at £359.99 and is available from end of March 2011.
